How to Build and SEO a Website from Scratch: A Case Study

In this series of articles, I will be demonstrating the processes I use for building a website from the ground up, optimising it for search engines and eventually monetizing or selling it.

This will be a complete case study from buying the domain to eventually selling the website.

This is actually a bit of a challenge for me because I suffer from ‘shiny object syndrome’ and although right now I am pumped up to see this project through to the end there’s a good chance I will get distracted by something new. So, no guarantees, but I will do my best to get to the end.

I’m also risking my reputation a little bit. Some projects I work on just don’t work out the way I originally anticipated. It’s just part of the job, but if this one doesn’t work out then it will obviously look bad on me. I tend to get more hits than misses but if this turns out to be a miss, please don’t be too hard on me.

So let’s get started. The links are chronological and go to each stage of the project.

  1. Pick niche, get expired domain
  2. Keyword research and content plan
  3. Content creation
